What are the Andaman and Nicobar tribes and why are they important?

This is because the Andaman and Nicobar tribes are native inhabitants of the islands who have resided here thousands of years. Such tribes are the Great Andamanese, Jarwa, Onge, Sentinelese, Shompen, and Nicobarese. They have distinctive languages, traditions and strong relationship with nature. A lot of tribes engage in traditional hunting, gathering and fishing. Isolation has made certain communities such as the Sentinelese not to have contact with the outside world. These tribes are safeguarded by the Indian government through special laws in order to preserve their culture and keep exploitation off. Their culture is among the oldest human populations of the world.
